Farm Tour, New Products, and More!

Production is in full swing here at the farm! Our first group of broiler chickens for this growing season will be ready this week, turkey poults are in the brooder, the sheep are out on the pasture, and the pigs will soon be ready to harvest!!

We'll be picking up this group of chickens on Tuesday (the 22nd). We will be restocked with boneless chicken breast, thighs, drumsticks, wings, and whole birds. We will also have a limited amount of livers, hearts, feet, necks, and pet food available.

We will have a limited amount of goat meat available in just a few weeks, hopefully in time for the Ag + Art Tour.
We will have chops, kebab meat, sausage, and more cuts available.

Come on out to the farm for the 2018 Ag + Art Tour! We will have artisans, live music, and horse rides!
There will also be dairy goat milking and horse grooming demonstrations throughout the day.
All our products will be available to purchase from our farm stand, so bring a cooler!!

Catawba had a single, solid black full Oberhasli buckling on April 6th.

Baby Ruth gave birth to triplet mini-Oberhasli kids on May 10th: a black buckling, a chamoise buckling, and a chamoisee doeling.

With all this rain we've had this week, the pigs have turned their pen into a giant muddy mess!

Once they move into their next paddock after the rain is over, we'll plant seed in the muddy paddock to provide forage in a few months.

At approximately 200 lbs each, the pigs should be ready for harvest in less than 2 months. If you would like to reserve a whole or half hog, please let us know!

Whole and half hogs are $6.00/lb (after processing), a significant savings over individual retail cuts!

A whole hog usually yields 120-170 lbs of pork.
We have 10 raw fleeces available from Sheep Shearing Day; $15/lb.

The fleeces that aren't sold raw will be sent to Shepherd's Gate Fiber mill in NC to be spun into yarn.
The sheep are currently grazing lush pasture with a variety of forage including perennial grasses, clover, and turnips.

The baby lambs are growing big and strong on all those nutritious greens!
To increase our flock of sheep, we purchased a group of ewe lambs from another Gulf Coast sheep breeder in NC.
These girls are currently in a holding pen where we can make sure they're completely healthy before introducing them to the rest of the flock.

With all the flowers blooming, the local honeybees are very busy! While we don't keep bees ourselves, we have lots of friends in the area who do.

We are a bee-friendly farm; we don't use any herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers on our crops or pastures.

This bee was found pollinating some turnip flowers in one of our fields this past month.

Pre-order a Ferebee Farm turkey for Thanksgiving! (or Christmas!)

Our turkeys are raised on pasture, enabling them to consume copious amounts of green grass and bugs. They are fed a locally-grown, non-GMO grain ration to supplement their pasture. We never give our turkeys any antibiotics or other drugs. The high amount of green forage in their diet results in high levels of beta carotenes and Omega-3s in the final product.

There is a limited number of reservations available, so do not delay!
The turkeys will be harvested September-October; you will be notified when yours is ready.
